When re-shafting, and using an adapter (PING G25 PGC001), do you recommend tip trimming the depth of the bore, on the adapter?
Bob
The shaft manufacturers tell us that the trimming instructions that are published do not need to be modified for “adaptors”. Most driver shafts today are no tip trim for drivers, so you would just install it into the adaptor and cut to final playing length from the butt. That being said, if the particular shaft you have has enough parallel tip section length to allow you to trim some from the tip before installation, you can if you wanted to firm up the shaft. Generally speaking, if you trim 1″ from the tip of a graphite shaft, you will increase the flex by as much as 1 full flex. It can vary, depending on the shaft, but you know if you trim something from the tip when it called for nothing from the tip, the shaft will play stiffer.
