I’m reshafting a set of Mizunos for an old friend who is suffering a lot of physical limitations. I have a set of parallel tip UST Mamiya Recoil 440 ESX/F0 shafts that would be perfect for the 48g weight, and low kick, but maybe a little too flexible. If they were discrete length taper tips I would just hard step them. Will it be ok to increase the UST specified tip trimming on the parallel tips to gain some stiffness. What would be the sub-flex gain per 1/2″ over trim? Appreciate any input.
Thanks for the response, Britt. Based on your input I trimmed these Recoil 440s 1″ extra and it did bring the specs up almost exactly 10cpm, or a full flex rating.
