Generally, tipping a graphite iron shaft 1/2″ will stiffen by approximately 1/4 flex. If you are tipping a shaft that is already cut to length, then extending back the length on the butt end, it should still play slightly stiffer and maintain the swing weight. If you do not extend it back the 1/2″ you trimmed of the tip but add weight back to the head to maintain the swing weight at the shorter length, the cpm’s will decrease by the amount Rlafoone stated.

Thank you !
tip the shaft, stiffer tip (higher cpm), add weight back to the head to bring Swingweight back to norm, will decrease the cpm.
tip trim 1/2″ cpm will increase cpm approx 3 Hz (1/4 flex)
