I plan to build a TS3 set paired with KBS Tour Lite X-Stiff shafts, as per my recent GolfWorks fitting and KBS’ recommendation. Heretofore I’ve been playing the KE4 Max with Score LT shafts and stock identical head weights for the PW and GW. The GW has been my last full-swing iron, the PW and GW differ in length by 1/4″, and the distance gap has been pretty good. The TS3 PW and GW head weights differ by only 2g. To use the TS3 GW primarily as a full swing club, should I theoretically build it to the same length as the PW, or 1/2″ shorter, or somewhere in between? Thank you!

Really should build it to the length you prefer playing. The 2 grams different doesn’t make much difference, but if it does to you, you can always ad 2 grams to the PW build. If you build them the same length you would probably want to if you wanted the swig weights to be exactly the same. I personally build my PW and GW the same lengths in my TS4’s. On that particular model the head weights are the same. I use the GW like you, it’s mostly a full swing club and with todays lofts it is really like the PW’s I grew up with.

You should build the club to the length you prefer for that club and not worry about the head weight, especially when he difference is only 2 grams.

Thanks! I’m less concerned about the 2g than about gapping. I’ll build the PW and GW to the same length initially, test for gapping, and cut down the GW if needed.
