Visual and tech details aside (Thanks Britt!!), for me the Gap Wedge is more of a club you need to decide what you’re going to be using it for when you make that call. For me, it’s my last full swing club and is used less and less around the green compared to years past. So I bought the GW to match my irons. I did that so I get the same look and feel on full swings. If you use it for all sorts of specialty shots around the green, then maybe the Max might be more beneficial with it’s specific wedge technologies. You just really need to determine what you want to use it for and go from there.
A little less offset in the TS4 GW and the sole is slightly narrower. It will play like the PW in the set only with the higher loft. The Max wedge 50 degree has the adjustable weight option and again the sole is slightly wider. To some those differences might make a difference, but overall I don’t think you would notice any major performance difference.
