I’m going to be getting fitted for the first time in my life, and I’d really like to test out some clubs that would be similar to the 3 mentioned in the title. I’m hoping to find the right length and lie, then get some Maltbys. Any help is appreciated!

It doesnt matter what the head is that you use in a fitting session. Shaft length, weight, flex, lie, grip size will be the same regardless of head.

There isnt any irons around that are good enough to be similar to Maltby anyway.

I had the same question about TS3. The Titleist T200 seemed to be the closest equivalent I could find, based on loft, weight, and VCOG. I figured trying to match those specs might help in finding a shaft that would perform similarly when finally paired with the TS3, at least with regard to flight trajectory and maybe spin.

Playability wise, probably not going to find a similar model that looks similar in profile. T200 (574 MPF) is OK, TM P790 (697 MPF) is OK. Both are Game Improvement irons, but the TS3 is 849 MPF, so from a stability and forgiveness standpoint it stands above the others. We know that MPF is not the only factor, but when comparing heads it is a great tool to identify differences that could affect how a club plays. The Titleist does have similar lofts (28 on the 6 iron is the same as the TS3), so that helps at least on well hit shots when comparing launch angle, etc. Taylor Made P790 is stronger lofted at 26.5 deg. on a 6 iron.

So, as theblake7 stated, can’t really compare the Maltby iron to the others unless you hit them side by side and for the fitting the most important thing is to get your length, shaft type and flex, lie, grip type and size, etc. Then we can use those psecs to build your TS3’s.
