I currently game a TSW 56 degree wedge. I love the feel and performance of the club, but do hit some chunks with it when it’s soft and wet out, which is not a common experience for me with wedges. The TSW has been the best wedge I’ve ever played in firm conditions and is normally fine for me in softer conditions too. I am wondering if the new DRT S grind has any less of a tendency to dig or if I should consider the A grind to avoid digging in soft and wet conditions. I am based in Columbus, OH so I don’t get to play on truly firm turf all that often.
I also game TS3s and use the set gap wedge extensively for partial shots and rarely take a full swing at a wedge. I don’t currently use a 52 degree wedge because the TS3 gap has been so versatile, but I am wondering about filling the gap between my 48 degree gap wedge and 56 TSW with a new DRT wedge. If I would mostly use the 52 for partial wedges and to hit bump and runs that I want to run less than my gap wedge bump and runs do, would the G, A, or S grind be a better bet?
For the sake of both questions, I will note I have a fairly neutral attack angle.
Thanks for taking the time to reply! I am playing on pretty plush conditions most of the time as well so am kind of leaning A grind and keeping my TSW for the rarer firm condition rounds. But it is good to know the S is more playable than the TSW. I am in no rush so may wait to make the final call until you guys have the S grinds in the shop for testing.
And thanks to you and everyone at GolfWorks for making such premium products and keeping them affordable. I’m sure you get this all the time, but the TS3s are the best iron I’ve ever played bar none.
