The 3 woods are listed at 43″ and the 5 woods are 42″. I have been looking to purchase one or both, but have some conflicting information about club length and swing weight. I would be getting the club pak with the Maltby MPF fairway wood shaft in stiff. I was told if you get anything less than 43″, I can’t get a D2 swing weight. I find this hard to believe. I want a 3 wood at 42.5″ playing length with a D2 swing weight. Is that possible? What is the standard swing weight for this club at standard length, standard Lamkin grip?

I just wanted to add one thing. I have read where it would be possible to get a 16* head for the 3 wood that may be in stock for the UFW, is there any truth to that?

You can get to D1-D2, but your going to have to change the weight in the head to the 14 gram option and leave the length at 43″ unless you want to go to a heavier shaft. The heads were designed to modern standard weights to allow for the longer lengths of today’s fairway woods. We also designed in the adjustable weight feature to allow for some weight alteration to accommodate other lengths. If you replace the 8 gram weight that comes in the head with a 14 gram weight, the total head weight goes to 211 grams. At 42.5″ playing length, with a 211 gram head and a 77 gram shaft and 50 gram grip, the estimated swingweight is still around D0. You could go with a lighter grip, or a heavier shaft, to help, but the weight of the components in the pack will not get you to a D2 a 42.5″. As far as a 16 degree head, the specification is 15 degree. With tolerances, it possible there could be one closer to 16.

Thanks for the info. Only thing is, I do see OEM’s with sub 70 gram shafts in their 3 and 5 and 7 woods with at least D2 swing weights at 43″ and below. Those are with driver shafts cut down as well. I don’t see any D0’s from any except maybe Ping every once in a while. Do you know of a heavier graphite fairway shaft with similar characteristics as the Maltby? I saw the Grafalloy Epic fairway shaft on Golfworks, but only listed it in R. The S is 87 grams at 44″ raw. Doesn’t look like you have it in stock anymore. Maybe I’m missing something here, but with a fairway shaft at 44″ and 77 grams as the Maltby is, there should not be much trimming at all I wouldn’t think.
