Hi there,

I’m ordering a KE4 TC Pro IST series fairway 7w head to replace my Ping G400 7w with HZRDUS Smoke red 5.5 60g shaft. For the most part, I like the HZRDUS, but wondering what other inexpensive shafts I could try out.. I’d want similar or higher trajectory, not lower.

I came upon the Pro Series DL shaft, and like the 60g weight range in the R flex, and the MPF factor is 3B3M, which should be higher launching..

Wondering how the Pro Series DL compares to the HZRDUS Smoke Red 5.5 in terms of flex/feel. If the Pro Series plays stiffer in the R flex, could I just tip trim a 1/2″ less than the recommended 1″ tip trim for the 7w to have it play/feel a little softer and add a little more launch?

Thanks for any suggestions on inexpensive fairway shaft options in that 60g range that have softer feel/are higher launching.

tony,

i would go for an “A” series flex in the mpf pros as they one flex stiffer, in my expeience

i would be tempted to leave the pro tipped long and choke down to get their feel, assumming you have a shaft puller and can re-trim

in the maltby brand, the m890 is their high launch shaft.

may also look at their rapport shafts

brett will have more empirical knowledge.

Thanks. Yup, I have a shaft puller and thought about doing just that.. leaving the tip long and trim down as needed. I really don’t have many issues adjusting to different flexes.. so I’d rather go softer than firmer to keep the spin and launch.

I actually just built a set of TS3s with the M890 that’s in R flex and I was worried they may be too soft, but they are actually quite nice! I looked at the M890 for a fairway shaft too but want to stay around 60g in the FW if I can.

Did a little more searching to narrow down some options in the fairway woods…

Pro Series DL A flex and tip trim later if too soft
Pro Series DL R flex, leave tip longer and trim later if too soft
Kinetixx TS-F A or R flex?
Pro Force V2 HL in R flex?

The Pro Force is more than I wanted to spend to try this head out, but if it’s the best quality option of the three, I’d splurge there.

Any opinion between these appreciated!
