I have an older set of Tommy Armour 845 imitations….858’s…(1 iron-SW). Assembled them myself 20-30 years ago. Love them. Considered new clubs every once in awhile but kept reading comments like “I wish I still had my 845’s.” I can learn from others. Recently lost my SW and I need to consider at least a new SW and maybe a gap wedge or other lofts. I do have a 65 degree lob wedge….yes, 65 degree…I know you don’t see these very often. The older 858 wedges did not come with degree markings on them. Anyone know what degree the PW & SW would be for these? Trying to get a game back I had back when I had the time to put into practice and playing. Thanks for comments.

Hello, Brian. If your SW was 55* with 15* of bounce, you might consider the Maltby Design Multi Grind series wedges, probably the 56* TP grind. Here’s the link: http://www.golfworks.com/maltby-design-multi-grind-wedges/p/MA0265/. For most of the golfers I teach and make clubs for, I recommend the Glider grind in the 56*. It has less bounce, 8*, but a much greater “effective bounce” due to the wider sole – really good in soft sand and heavy rough. Hope this helps!
