Im considering building a set of irons and the TE has been recommended. Is it now ‘dated’ compared to the innovations of the last ten years?
This week a customer couldn’t decide between the TS-2 and the TE. Two totally different designs. One cutting edge the other ‘dated.
The TE or its previous renditions were way ahead of their time. Perimeter weighting, low COG, lots of effective bounce on the sole. Understated yet elegant looks.
If your are not ego driven and prefer a no nonsense but pure iron the TE is a great choice. If bragging about how far your 6 iron goes the TS-2 might be for you.
There are good reasons why the TE and DBM are still being built.
Myself the PTM with modern lofts, minimal tech and flash… is the iron that performs best for me. State of the art tech is great but I’m results driven.
Try one or buy a whole set of TEs. The design has proven to be timeless.
