And I’m talking very new. I wanted to start a year ago but injured back. I’m almost to the point where I can start swinging but until then I wanted to assemble the clubs myself. My question is obviously which clubs are best for a beginner which I kind of know is the KE4 max but I really like the black finish clubs. I know there is 0 reasons to care about the color of your clubs as a beginner but if I wanted something in black which is the most forgiving of those options.
Good advice from Michael. The only thing I would add with regards to our DBM Black finish options, the TS3 is the most forgiving, so if the black finish is a must, the TS3 would be the one to consider. The KE4 Max would be the choice if the finish didn’t matter. It is an Ultra Game Improvement design and is a great model for new players like you.

Ok thanks for that insight. Also I wonder if I can pivot the question to putters. I have the Moment MAX Milled Black RT putter in my cart. I went to try some putters out at the PGA store and I really like the longer 38 inch ones. What is the best way to accomplish that length without adapters? Could I just use an iron shaft blank (.370) and cut it to my desired length? What to make sure I’m not under thinking the complexity of a putter.
We have the MA1010 Golfworks straight Stepless putter shafts that come in a raw length of 38″. It also come in a black finish. Installed into the RT putter will get you a little over 38″ playing length, so you can cut it to 38, no problem.

There is no Maltby club that is not forgiving. “I really like the black finish” means that appearance is important to you. That’s more than just a personal preference. It will set you in a positive frame of mind every time you play a shot!
Of course, you will want to get with a good teaching professional who can help you begin on the right foot. He/she can also help guide you to the best specs for your clubs, too.
The other possibility that many of us recommend is to select two or three heads – I suggest 6 or 7 iron heads, and build them with the same shafts and grips, and try them out.
This takes a little longer and costs a little more, but will help you find what’s best for you.

Hi Jacob! You’re in the right spot. I play both the TS4 and the DBM TS3. My son has played golf twice. Ever. And he hit my TS3s better than he hit some off the shelf “beginner” clubs. I adore them and they will last you well into your golfing journey. I’m building him a set of the newer forged Max irons but the TS3s are excellent too!
