So I’m still new to golf, but picking it up fairly quick. I’m athletically in shape 5’10 200lbs. Current handicap is 23 which came down from 30 since I started in May. I’m looking to finally have my own new irons. I went to golf galaxy and got some numbers. With the PING G425 7i with shaft DG 120 Stiff flex I got CLUB SPEED 90.9 , CARRY 175.4 ,TOTAL 183.4. I also tried Cleveland Launcher XL but with Nippon 105 stiff flex since the head weight was heavier and I was able to hit similar numbers if not slight better with faster CLUB SPEED. So would the KE4 MAX with the score lt stiff be sufficient for me in my newbie stage? Also should I have the lofts changed to match the Clevelands? If there are any other suggestion or questions to be answered let me know. 😁👍 I also looked at the STI2 not sure if those should be overlooked for me.

Correction I would be ordering them from golfworks not actually building them myself.

KE4 Max irons are a great choice and I would recommend those to you at the stage you are at. As far as the shaft, the Score can work and it should be in S flex. You are definitely an S flex based on your club head speed and distance with the 7i. the Score Stiff will not be as stiff as some other shafts, so you might consider going with the DG 120 Stiff in the Max iron since you hit it in the Ping and liked the results. I would not adjust any lofts of the Max to match the Clevelands or any others. I would simply tell you to take the time to get used to the Max irons and the distance they provide. We feel the lofts on the Max are what they need to be for that design to provide the proper trajectories, distance, etc. Hope this helps.

@Britt Thank you! That does help. Yeah I guess it will come down to if I want to spend extra for the custom shaft build or just stick to what is in the pak deal. I’m sure anything I get will definitely be better than what I’ve been learning with at this point.

Also how would the Elevate 95 be compared to the score lt with these heads?

The Elevate 95 is a lighter weight option. In looking at the profiles, the Elevate 95 is slightly softer in the butt section than the Score LT, but they are very similar in the mid section and the tip section.

I’m guessing lighter would not be good for me given my swing speed and strength?

Depends, but generally players with your speed don’t use lightweight steel 95 grams and under. Still, they could work. Would try the heavier ones first.

@Britt Lindsey thank you for this info. I went to Roger Dunn and tried a few options. I will be going with the KE4 MAX Pak with Stiff flex and learn those clubs. Much appreciated!
