Universal hosel for use with a taper tip or a parallel tip shaft. QuickFeet is correct.

Here is a guess; the 0.125 may be to allow the use of a taper tip shaft and to help center the shaft in bottom of the bore. What little space there may be between the taper shaft and lower bore wall will be filled by epoxy.
