So the i230’s I have are regular flex w/ Ping Alta CB shafts(72 grams and Mid High launch).

I want to move to a senior flex and have tried the Alta CB SR flex. Same distance as the regular flex just better launch angle, apex height and spin numbers. Just too expensive and only Ping offers them.

Was wondering what Golfworks offers as a comparable shaft to the Alta CB SR flex(65 grams and high launch)?

The UST Recoil SmacWrap 760 ES in A flex is a Ping option but they claim it is 59 grams and a high launch. However UST and Golfworks say it is a MidHigh launch and 65 grams.

I’m confused. I am open to any senior flex shaft that is lighter weight than 72 grams and not a mid high launch.

Do I have to be concerned about the counter balancing of the Alta shaft as well?

We do not have the profile of the Alta CB SR flex shaft so I can’t know if the profiles will compare with anything we could suggest. The counter balance part is something to consider as it can affect the feel, but the only iron CB option we have is the Kuro Kage Black by Mitsubishi and it is 73 grams, and it is a Mid trajectory. One thing to consider is the Ping requires a .355 taper tip shaft, so that really limits the options, especially in an A flex. The Kuro Kage would not work since it is a .370″ parallel tip shaft. Not sure of the discrepancy between what Ping says about the Smac Wrap and what us and UST say, but it could be that that is a special build for them. Probably is since it would have to be a .355″ taper tip option. The one we carry is .370. Or it could be they are quoting a trimmed weight and just wanted to to call it a high trajectory. If mid/high trajectories are not an option, then you might look at the new KBS MAX Graphite iron in the .355 A flex option. It is a little more expensive, but it is a high trajectory option. It is 55 grams. About the same price is the SteelFiber 55CW which is .355 taper tip and 56 grams in the A flex. Those are about the only two options we would have, without special ordering something. We can special order any UST shafts in a taper tip .355″.

I guess I would ask is if you liked the Alta CB Sr flex, why not just go with it?
