Just built a set of clubs with Recoil (460 F2) shafts, senior flex. I used the old TM RAC heads. The result is a club that feels way too light. I’ve played with lead tape, but still don’t feel like they are heavy enough.
I need a weaker flex due to a shoulder injury, that needs surgery, and won’t get better. Plus, I was trending that way anyway as I’m 56 y.o. I’ve played other senior flex irons and they felt good.
Not sure where to go from here. Looking at the Maltby STI2 iron heads, but don’t know if that will improve the result. The specs show they are fairly heavy which may give me some feel back.
I’ve built clubs for many years and haven’t really experienced this situation. Not looking to break the bank, but trying to build something suitable. I’m a 6 handicap and high school golf coach that used to play to an index range of 2.0-3.5.

Ralph Maltby wrote several times in these forums that as we get older then retain the same flex but go for a softer tip. Reading between the lines i think that means same weight too.

I am 60 but not getting old yet.
