Is it true that the numbers don’t lie from a Trackman-based club fitting? Even if it is conducted indoors on mats? I’ve been notoriously bad hitting off mats. I always perform better off of real turf (I believe that’s b/c I’m a little steep, and can get through turf better than the mats allow). Regardless, I’m trying to gauge the confidence I should have in the iron fitting I just went through at Club Champion. Part of me is skeptical of the results, because they are derived solely from a 6-iron off of mats. Can I trust this model of club fitting to be accurate, and well-applied throughout the entire set, even if only a 6-iron off of mats was used?
personally I would not really have an issue with being fitted by any credible individual with an accurate launch monitor. Also, I’m sure you can find a local course where the pro would have have a LM of some sort so you can hit off of turf. A few courses around me rent out Garmin R50’s for golfers to use on the range.
Only other way to be more accurate would to be fit for irons/woods individually – good luck with that.
