Currently gaming the Mits Kai’li blue Stiff in my Cobra DS Adapt X at A3 (-1° loft and 1° flat). I really like the performance and feel of the Kai’li as a stock shaft offering, but like most, I’m just looking for any extra edge in performance if it’s available.. and with a limited budget.

My situation is kind of unique in that I really hit up on the ball (+/- 6°). I play a higher spinning ball too because I need spin. My average spin is around 1800 and I’ve tried a number of shafts in the mid to high launch/spin bucket. Lower launching shafts spin too low for me (1400-1600) but produce a great launch and flight.. but just knuckle out of the air. High launching shafts put me right around 2k spin, but then kick up my launch to 16+° and decent angles are just too steep.

I’m content with the performance of the Kai’li, but would the Core Blue give me any higher spin while keeping my launch down? I’ve also had the Pro+ on and off, but I’m finding that I need a higher torque rating to help close the club face and the Pro+ just stays open a little longer than I like for my contact/swing.

Hard to say if the Core Blue might get you to where you want to be. When dealing with specifics in spin and launch, kind of just have to experiment. The Core Blue is a mid to high launching shaft, depending on the flex, and I would not say it produces high spin, but medium to possibly medium high in the softer flexes. That being said, and I think you know as well as I, spin can very greatly based on the player and nothing in the shaft dynamics will override the loft, angle of attack, speed, ball type, etc. when it comes to what the actual spin number will be.

Thanks for the response Britt! Yeah I kind of just went with my gut and ordered a Core white 50g. I’m definitely aware that the shaft isn’t an override mechanism for launch or spin but simply a fine-tuning tool. If perhaps I can increase a mph or 2 with a lighter shaft, that might help compensate for my natural lower spin, and not increase my launch any more.
