Currently game a TS3 / TS4 DBM combo set and about time for new wedges and wouldn’t mind a matching DRT DBM set but I can’t make up my mind on Grind / Bounce. Currently play TM Hi-Toe 3 56/10 and 60/7. I know DRT do not come with full face grooves, but I’m torn on going with S or A grind in either wedge. Low single digit HC with short game being the best part of my game, so very leery on changing up the setup but need fresh grooves and the DRT price point is a lot better for more frequent turnover if I can find a setup that works for me. Play in Texas with a lot of hard pan / firm ground, steep big divot taker.

What would you recommend based on these parameters?

Having grown up in Texas and played a lot of golf there, I can tell you the S grind would be the best option in the DRT Series. The 56 comes with 12 deg. of bounce and the 60 with 8 degrees. That is 1 degree more than the TM, but not sure it would make that much difference. The S grind is the most versatile. Even being steep, the S grind is more forgiving than the TSW Series wedges. The TSW is a different grind and I would tell you it’s grind is definitely better for tight lies and firm conditions, period. Need to be really good, shallow in your approach to play these consistently. Since you mentioned steep, deep divot taker, the TSW might not be a good option.

Normally, or really anywhere but in the Texas conditions you described, if you were steep and deep, the A grind might be considered. I just think, knowing what the hard pan in Texas is like, that the A grind might be a little too much for even a steep angle. Again, the S grind is extremely versatile. I played it in Texas this August with no problem on some pretty firm turf, and played all summer in Ohio on plush, often wet turf and had not problem with either. Honestly might be the best wedge grind I have ever played.
