Anyway to accurately check if the grooves on my set are wore to the point that a new set of irons is needed?
As far as a specific tool you could use, not really. We could evaluate through visually inspecting and measuring with tools we have. If you run a straight edge over the face and feel or see any concave areas, or if you can visibly see an area of grooves that look worn and are different from groves around the edges, then the chances are they are worn to the point you might want to replace.
If you could send images, we might could give you some guidance, or send the set in and we can evaluate.
