Would the KE4 Forged or STI (Gen 2) be a replacement for the older Tour+? Seems like both have similar features, specs, and lines, with the Forged offering only interchangeable weight.

With lighter head weights, are golf shafts playing stiffer? Seems like a 7 iron is 260-268gr these days, as opposed to 270-276gr in years past. That’s basically like hard-stepping modern heads compared to older heads, correct? So about 1/3 of a flex stiffer? Or are shafts getting softer to compensate?

Interesting questions!

Be sure that you have an “apples to apples” comparison regarding iron head weights. I don’t know which “years past” models you’re referring to, but remember that the lofts of the “years past” models were also much weaker, so that a 7 iron back then was equivalent to an 8 iron or even a 9 iron today. Shaft lengths have also changed and become longer, so I think most of the differences are in those numbers and not in how the shafts play.
