Has anyone played both the Maltby MPF Pro Series+ and Fujikura Pro iron shafts? I am looking to potential pair one of these in a set of TE+ irons. I recently purchased a TE+ 7 iron with the Pro Series+ S, -1” (I am 5’7”), D2 swing weight. I like the feel but concerned it’s too light and my dispersion will be excessively left–I have a left miss. I am currently in KBS C-Taper 115g R+, which are now too heavy for me. My 7 iron swing speed is 80-82 MPH. Would soft stepping a Pro Series+ X make sense? I am intrigued with the Fujikura Pro 95i S because it is a constant weight, which is what I am used to, and it is in that ~95g sweet spot I am targeting. On the flipside, would hard-stepping the Fujikura Pro i95i R 0.5″ make more sense given my SS and left miss pattern? Any thoughts or comments on feel, launch characteristics, and spin would be super helpful. Thanks! Chris

My question is do you actually have an excessively left miss with the Pro Series+ S flex or do you just think you might? Honestly, nothing in the shaft dynamics of any of the shafts you mentioned can cause an excessive miss either way. That being said, if the feel of the club causes YOU to swing in a way that causes it, that’s a different story and can cause unwanted misses left or right.

No that that’s out of the way, all of the shafts you mentioned can work, but you have to decide what weight provides the feel you want. Your #7 iron speed definitely puts you in an S flex, or even an X if it provides the feel and shot performance you want. Generally the S flex will feel better, more responsive, but everyone is different. If you are targeting the 95 gram range, the Pro Series does not make sense, even in the X flex, since it is 85 grams in the raw length. The Fuji Pro 95 product we carry is not constant weight, it is a .370″ parallel tip 95 gram 40.5g blank that is trimmed for flex. If they have a .355″ constant weight option, they do not show it in their product mix. If you want a constant weight shaft in graphite, it will have to be a model that is .355″ taper tip. They will work in the TE+ since we use a universal hosel in that model. SteelFiber 95, Recoil Dart 90 or 105 or the KBS TGI or PGI options in .355 in 90+ weights would be some options to consider.

So you might take a look at some of the constant weight 90-95 gram options and consider trying one in the #7 iron. Only way to kno for sure is to test.
