I currently play the DBM and am pretty happy with them. I’ve had them in the bag for 2 years, so obviously I am itching to get something new and shiny. I had thought I would wait for the TS3/4 to get released later this year, but I am wondering how the DBM would compare to the TS1. What am I going to see in terms of differing characteristics between these clubs? Many thanks in advance for feedback.

The TS3 and TS4 will definitely be late this year. I played the DBM’s from the time they came out until the TS-1’s arrived, so I believe I can give you some good comparative notes. Both feel great, so I would not say feel is something that you have to consider. That doesn’t mean they feel exactly the same, but they both have a desirable feel, in my opinion. The single most noticeable difference is the distance. I am easily 1/2 to a full club longer with the TS-1’s. That is mainly due to the loft difference. I still like the DBM’s and will still play them from time to time. I just have to pull a #6 iron from 175 with my DBM’s, compared to a #7 from the same distance with my TS-1’s. The TS-1’s are definitely my #1.

No difference in playability / forgiveness any ball flight difference you may experience is due the lofts being different. I have not done detailed analysis to evaluate decent angle, spin, etc. I know what I experience and see and feel when comparing the two. I hit the DBM’s a little higher and a little shorter.

I played both for about 2 seasons starting with the DBM’s and then moving to the TS1’s in early 2020.
Aesthetics: Aside from the obvious.. DBM finish vs satin steel, the top line of the DBM’s is slightly thinner borderline blade-esque. The TS-1’s top line is still very attractive though.
IMO the higher lofted clubs in the DBM’s are a little more square in appearance and that kind of wore on me a little. I like that the TS1’s are much more uniform in shape through the set.
Performance: I’d say that the lofts definitely play a noticeable part in the distance, but the tech in the TS1’s ensures that distances don’t take a major hit on less than desirable strikes. I have my TS1’s bent 1° weaker so my distances aren’t that much different between the 2. A poor strike on the TS1’s might lose 5-10 yds where the DBMs might be punished more severely.
I’d say that the biggest difference for me in performance is the sole design. The DBMs are a much wider sole and from what I recall are relatively flat with a sharper leading edge. The TS1’s are much thinner in the sole and have higher bounce and decent camber to interact better with the turf. In AZ anyway, a club that digs too much can cause problems on hard pan turf.
Sound/Feel: while the DBM’s definitely are rewarding when hit pure, the TS1’s are on a whole other level IMO. It’s a powerful, but slightly muted crack off the face. It’s really hard to put into words but it’s the kind of sound and feel that you could replay over and over in your head while falling asleep with a grin on your face. Imagine a fluffy bunny rabbit dressed in Rambo attire brandishing an AK-47 and a belt full of hand grenades. So soft, yet explosive.

I play my DBM 2 degrees weak, so off a 48 degree PW or nearly a full club weaker than the TS-1. Like for like (DBM PW to TS-1 GW, etc), is there going to be an appreciable difference in forgiveness, descent angle, ball flight, etc.
I am really trying to figure out the strengths and differences of these heads so I can see how each would apply to my game. Lets be honest, I am trying to find a reason to buy the TS-1s while I wait for the TS-3/4 to get released…
