When regripping many OEM clubs there is this thin white wispy grip tape that is more difficult to remove then the normal double sided grip tape. What is this stuff? Is there a name for it?

When regripping many OEM clubs there is this thin white wispy grip tape that is more difficult to remove then the normal double sided grip tape. What is this stuff? Is there a name for it?
Do not know exactly what it is and each companies can be different. Sometimes it’s a water soluble tape. If the clubs are assembled in Asia, which many stock clubs are, it could be just about anything. It can be difficult to remove. We generally will heat it up a little and then scrape it off.
