What is the primarily advantage of the hollow TS2 design versus a solid iron like the TE or DBM?
Dave
Traditionally, hollow irons have allowed designers to move mass more to the perimeter which improves the MOI. Also, hollow irons can feature different materials, allowing for thinner faces that can, to a small degree, increase ball speeds on the lower lofted irons. The TS2 combines stronger lofts and a thinner face design to increase distance. More can be attributed to the stronger loft, but the thinner face will deflect some, reducing the energy lost from the ball at impact, which can increase the ball speed off the face. the TE and DBM have been our best sellers for several years and are still great performers. However, due to the loft variance and to a lesser degree the thinner face on the TS2, you could see a 1/2 club to a club difference in distance, everything else being equal (shaft, length, etc.).
