I was fit into a 3-wood with an Aldila 2KXV Green 75X tipped 0.5″ — which of the fairway shafts available in the Custom Shop would be the closest match? I imagine the NV NXT 75 would be pretty close, what about the Tour Green or any other manufacturer’s shafts?

If that is what he meant, trim an additional .5 inches from the designated trimming of 1″, then I guess you could. There is 3″ of parallel tip section length on both shafts, so trimming 1.5″ from the tip leaves you with 1.5″ of parallel tip length. As long as the club your installing it in has less than 1.5″ hosel bore depth, you would be OK. The additional .5″ would have the same affect on both shafts. Probably make them play 1/4 to 1/2 flex stiffer.

I have W21 trim code for both the NV2KXV and the Tour Green NXT, which says 0″ tip trim for a driver and 1″ tip trim for a #3 wood. You can trim .5″, but the trim instructions call for 1″ on a #3 wood.

The Tour Green NXT 75 X is almost identical to the NV 2KXV 75 X. Weight is within one gram, torsional stiffness is within .2 degrees (unnoticeable) and they are both low/mid trajectory shafts with the same MPF rating. If they wre both painted black and you were testing, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. I didn’t put them both in the Club Builder as an option because they are so similar. If you want the 2KXV, you can call your order in and we can build it with the NV 2KXV, no problem. I do think the Tour Green NXT GEN will work just fine.

Thanks for the quick response Britt — I assume I’d need to the same tip trimming (0.5″) as the 2KXV?
I’m not a club builder so I probably didn’t ask the question correctly (or don’t understand how tip trimming works…).
I believe the fitter was specifying 0.5″ additional tip trimming beyond the manufacturer’s spec to increase tip stiffness. To achieve the same stiffness in the Tour Green NXT would I also need to tip trim an additional 0.5″?
