The VFT’s are an Ultra Game Improvement Iron, no doubt. Low cg, long C-dimension (center of the hosel line to the horizontal cg location) and deep rearward cg location. As far as “sweet spot” being a part of the MPF, the MPF is about the mass dimensional characteristics of the clubhead and where the cg is located. So, yes, the MPF is about cg which translates for some into “sweet spot”. Features of a stable and forgiving head are those found in the VFT, to the extreme. The Ping G is a Super Game Improvement club that is well designed from a mass and dimensional characteristics standpoint. Not aware of any new technology assoiciated with it, it is just a well designed iron from a mass and dimensional characteristic standpoint. In it’s simplest terms, the MPF tells you how stable and forgiving and iron will be through impact and on off center hits. The higher the MPF, the more stable and forgiving. Ralph states in his books on the subject that most people would find it difficult to tell the difference in 100 to 150 points variance, especially when you get into the high Super Game and Ultra Game Improvement categories. If your looking for the most forgiving iron and you like the look, then you should give the VFT a try. If your looking for a Super playable and forgiving iron and you prefer the look of the Ping, play the Ping. Be sure to note the loft progressions of each set. the VFT’s are 2 degrees weaker in loft than the Pings, so that could have an impact on your decision.

Thank you Britt. I had not noticed the 2 degree difference but that would confirm some comments that I read about guys loving the VFT, but lost distance. Well, Callaway contacted me today after five days and said that they messed up and they did not have the VFT club set afterall. Not sure that I believe them. I think someone realized what they had and kept them for themselves.
So I will be purchasing the Ping Gs 4 through 9. I hope that I see a difference between them and my i5s (707 MPF) even though your statement that when measuring 100-150 points is hard tell a difference makes me wonder. The longer clubs feel good. I just can’t bring myself to have that huge sole on a pitching wedge. Going with the MD3 – 46, 50, 54, and 58. Thanks again for your reply. I appreciate your time.
