I’m in search of graphite iron shafts (preferably taper tip) with a bit of bias towards the back end. I’ll be using some Mizuno JPX825 Pro heads that are from Mizuno’s heavy head stock, and I need to build these +1/2″.
I’d like to find a shaft that can help me get to a swing weight that doesn’t approach Thor’s Hammer. I don’t mind D3, but anything heavier becomes uncomfortable in a hurry.

Nunchuk ix shafts from Nventix are counterbalanced. I have been using these for 6+ years. I am not sure whether the product information explains the counterweighting, but I guarantee that they are, the design focus was putting a lot of the weight in the butt, very stiff tip and a flex point in the middle – hence the name.
but I dont know if these would meet your need. they are a heavy shaft at about 110g to begin with (for graphite)
I don’t see a specific “counterbalance” option in taper tip graphite iron shafts, however, there are options in taper tip and using some counterbalance weight would not be a problem. I think your going to need it to achieve D3 at a +1/2″ with heavy heads. the weight of the shaft has some influence as well. Not knowing anything about your specific ball flight needs or the weight you are looking for, I can’t make a specific recommendation, but I would suggest looking at the UST Recoil options in taper tip or the AeroTech Steel Fiber taper tip options. As for counter weighting graphite, I think you will need to look at the Tour Lock product or some kind of system that you can make work in graphite.
