If your tendency is to get “quick” from the top, a heavier overall weight, for some players, can help. For others, it may not. The only way to know for sure is to try it, maybe on one club to begin with, like a #6 or #7 iron. As far as the trimmed weight, if you use .355 taper tip shafts, many are constant weight, but would still require some trim fro the butt after installation. So, the advertised weight might go down a little. If you are using a .370 parallel tip shaft, most of those are a single length blank that you trim from both ends to achieve the proper length and flex, meaning you would be trimming more weight from the shaft. Generally, 1″ trimmed from the butt end of a standard weight steel shaft is approx. 3 grams and a lighter weight steel shaft will be approximately 2 grams per inch trimmed from the butt end. 1″ trimmed from the tip of a .370 parallel tip steel shaft will weigh approximately 2.5-3 grams, depending on the overall weight of the shaft.
