Trying to reshaft a set of Bridgestone Tour B X-CBP irons. I’m using a high temp heat gun to soften the epoxy, but I can’t budge the head. I’ve heated the hosel to VERY hot. The few times I’ve used the heat gun on Taylormade irons, it was more than enough heat to soften the epoxy. Does Bridgestone use a special epoxy? Will I need to buy a propane torch.

If you are removing steel shafts, we will use a torch the majority of the time. Graphite shafts, always a heat gun. To my knowledge we have not had issues removing Bridgestone iron heads in the past. No idea what kind of epoxy or adhesive they use, but that should not be an issue. My first suggestion would be to try the torch. It can discolor the hosel, but our simichrome polish (cide SIMI) can remove the discoloration. However, you should not have to heat the hosel so hot that it scorches the hosel.

Thank you. Yes, it’s a steel shaft. I hesitate using a torch because the hosel is stamped, and paint filled. If a torch is the only way to get the head off, I’m willing to lose the painted lettering.
