I had a customer come to me recently complaining about how fast he goes through grips on his wedges. He is a scratch golfer and plays standard size tour velvet. He seems to be wearing through grips on his wedges almost twice as fast as his irons. He does choke down on his wedges part of the time, especially his sand wedge. I regripped his full set mid-last season, and driver, hybrids, long and short irons all look like new but all 3 of his wedges are noticeably worn when compared to everything else. Do you have any recommendations for an alternate grip/material or adjustment that may slow down this accelerated wear or is this the “nature of the beast”?
