I got a set of irons in my shop that all have relatively the same lie angle (+/- 0.25 degree). I am curious if anyone else has seen this tried before and what the reason is. I know why clubs with the same length would have the same lie angle, but this set is a typical 1/2” change in length from club to club…. I also know that as the shaft length grows, the dynamic lie flattens in the swing, but I didn’t think it flattened that much, maybe a degree at most in a 3 iron for example? All of the lofts are relatively standard. I am recommending the irons be changed to represent the shaft length, and of course fit to the clubs owner. Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks Britt, my thoughts too. I checked swing weights yesterday and they all are pretty close to D2 with exception to the PW, D4. They are a set of Callaway Apex Pro CF16’s, so the quality is there, but someone obviously bent them to the same lie angle and I am guessing the builder tried to compensate for a slice in the longer clubs or something. At any rate, it’s not helping him and I’m telling him he needs to fix his swing and fix the clubs. He’s Complaining of pull hooks in the longer clubs and I know why! Thanks again.
