I know this iron J Beam bm t 801 iron can’t be tested by looking at it, but its an interesting great looking midsize blade from Japan, the shape of the back in particular looks like it could launch the ball up pretty well ,in your opinion what would you call a blade that looks like that or that shape than something that has a more defined muscle shape and also the new Callaway mb apex blade with a screw in the back does do anything or use for custom weights etc ?

Looks like a lot of blades from Japan. You’re correct in that you can’t tell the playability by just looking at it. It is a clean look, although a little too many graphics on the back in my opinion. From the images I have looked at, the hosel is long and the toe height looks a little high. Also, the sole looks really narrow. Based on just the looks, I do not think the playability will be that high, but again, you really can’t know for sure just by looking. I would call it a blade, for sure. Maybe not a traditional muscle, but it is a blade.

I haven’t measured the Callaway either for playability, but it looks interesting. They finally are coming around to the adjustable weight feature, which we have been doing for decades. Did it, so they say, for custom fitters so that they can adjust weight during the fitting process. I do not know what the range in weight change will be. Hopefully, in the next few months, I will get my hands on one to measure.
