I have an Adams Tight Lies hybrid (2 actually, a 3h and 5h) with a Kuro Kage 65HY shaft. These are old clubs, I know, but I really like them. I’ve been looking for an MPF rating for that Kuro Kage shaft and haven’t been able to find anything close. Is there a chance that there might be some way to compare those to a current shaft, like a Maltby MPF or the M890?

We haven’t carried the Kuro Kage 65HY, but we have the 80 gram version. No way of knowing if the MPF would be similar. In looking at the Maltby MPF HY, it would most likely play slightly firmer as it tends to be on the firmer side of each flex. The M890 is excellent and would be on the softer side if comparing similar flex designations. I don’t know what flex you have, but you might also look at the Rapport Core Blue Hybrids. We developed these with VA Composites and they perform very well and are very much true to each flex designation, based on the averages of each flex designation (A, R, S, X) for all the shafts in our vast data base of shafts.
