Looking for guidance reshafting a Ping Si3 driver with that weird ferrule. I have a replacement ferrule but would like to save the old shaft. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
If you want to save the shaft, you should be able to heat the head. The shaft will either come out of the plastic or the plastic will come out of the head. We use to have a tool that fit over the Ping hosel that protected the ferrule/hosel and allowed you to push against it and remove the shaft, while leaving the hosel intact. I checked to see if we still had any and unfortunately we do not. Since you want to save the shaft you should be able to heat the head, preferably using a shaft puller, and pushing against the plastic hosel remove the shaft. The heat will most likely damage the hosel, but since you have a replacement that should not be a concern.
