Really sorry you had the issue with the ProLaunch 45 R flex. We have been selling that shaft for a very long time and have not seen a breakage issue. It can happen, especially on ultra light shafts, but again have not seen it on that shaft. If you still have the pieces, contact our customer service department. We may need a photo of the pieces to relay to True Temper, but we may be able to provide a credit or replacement.
Since I don’t know anything about your game or swing, I couldn’t comment on whether or not a 45 gram option would be a good choice. It has worked for a lot of players who have lost some clubhead speed and are looking to gain or maintain some distance. I understand if your confidence is a little shaken on the ProLaunch, but there are other options. the Fujikura Vista Pro 45 and the new KBS MAX HL are two you might look at. They are a little more expensive. Our MPF Pro Series UL is $39.99 and is a great shaft, in my opinion. It does play a little firmer than others, but not enough that most would notice. the R flex is 4 grams and I have never heard of one breaking. It might be another option to consider.
Again, apologies for the issue and you should contact customer service so we can possibly get a replacement or a credit for you. Tell them I told you to contact them.

Pete57 looks like you may have just gotten a defective shaft. I’ve been using the A flex 45g version of this shaft for over 2 years as a makeshift Autoflex or “OttoPhlex”. My swing speed is hovering around 110-112 and it’s still as stable as ever. There’s a fairly large group of us using these 45g Garafalloy shafts for this same purpose and from my experience I don’t know of anybody having them fail, even at much higher swing speeds than are intended for the shaft. Hopefully you can get a replacement. That’s definitely very uncharacteristic from mine and many others experiences with them.
