Haven’t measured the Clevelands to verify the horizontal cg location. The shape of their wedges does not appear to be a longer blade length design or have a shorter hosel. Most modern, classic wedge designs have longer hosels, to go with the naturally larger face profiles inherent in Wedges. This generally moves the cg higher and to the hosel side, which is not nearly as big a deal on Sand Wedges because of the high degree of loft. Very much a glancing blow on contact. The C-Dimension on the old MG Tech 56 degree wedge was 1.250″, the M+ Series silver 56 degree is 1.280 and the new FGT 56 degree is 1.374″ The FGT is more due to the slightly larger head profile and the way we deployed the weight. The most important aspect of forgiveness in a wedge design, in our opinion, has much more to do with the sole design than where the horizontal CG is. If I can get my hands on one of the Cleveland wedge heads, I will measure it. I am curious.

Hi Britt
I’m wondering if you measured the Cleveland wedges?
I’ve always used a traditional wedge (vokey for e.g.) and always hit it out of the heel, low and with lots of spin, occasionally hitting a shank. I’ve recently started practicing with an old game improvement club and the ball floats of the centre of the face and lands softly.
I’ve also started practicing my full swing with an old AP1 6 iron and can’t believe how much better I’m hitting it. I notice through your specs pages (excellent work) that the c dimension of the AP1 is much larger than clubs I normally use.
Do you have or know of a list of wedges c dimensions? I won’t be going back to a traditional shaped club.
