Since both Golfworks and Golfsmith sold to Golf Galaxy (and subsequently Dicks), does Golfworks have access to older Golfsmith catalogs and specifically iron specs? I have some older irons I played from junior high and high school and into college that I’d like to fix up and play a bit. I thought a good place to start would be their original stock loft, lie, and headweights. They were second and maybe third hand to me so there’s no telling where they started or where they’re at now. They seem to be a harder cast steel so if they were already bent at or beyond 2-3*, I didn’t want to go any further and snap them. I measured the PW at around 46* and when I set it at address position it looks bent strong, looking almost like the 9. So I suspect they’ve moved quite a bit since these were pre-gap wedge days.
They are XPC 2000 irons 2-LW. They were sold as “graphite weighted” and standard for steel shafts. The cavity looks similar to the Tommy Armour 845s while the head geometry is like a Ping Eye 2 or Zing. They probably came around in the early to mid 90’s. I’ve found some old cached internet forum posts from ’96 or so discussing them and the newest model XPC iron so probably early ’90s.
Thank you for any information you can provide. You all are doing fantastic work. The MAX Milled wedges are top shelf! Best I’ve ever played!
