Looking to get into a combo set of TS-1 / TS-2’s. Weighing my options between a full set through the custom shop, but also considering retrofitting my current shafts to the new Maltby heads since I got fitted for these a few years back. My question; I keep seeing mentions of the short hosels on these irons. If I install my current shafts (currently on Callaway Mavrik irons) will I see my overall club lengths decrease?
The TS1 and TS2 irons bottom of bore to heel is approximately 3/4″. I have a 2020 Mavrik #6 iron and its BBH is 1″, so there is a difference. Important to understand that the tolerance can be 1/16″ to 1/8″ and it can vary from club to club in a set because of sole radius changes from club to club, etc. Generally the tolerance is small, but we have seen (not on our clubs) up to 1/8″. So assuming the Mavrik is 1″ and the TS1 or TS2 is 3/4″, your Mavrik shafts will in the Maltby irons will be 1/4″ shorter in playing length.
