I don’t have the sole width of the XHOT Pro currently, but we have the #6 iron and I can measure it next time I am at our design studio. Maybe next week. It’s probably going to be in that .740 – .780 range, but I will need to check. 40/1000 of an inch, or 1mm is not much. The TS2 is a great iron, but if it doesn’t work for you, for whatever reason, it doesn’t. I think the TS3 or the TS1-IM are both awesome models, but it sounds like you really are going to need to just try them to determine if they perform the way you want them. There is nothing in the design of either that should cause a noticeable difference in how they react to the turf. If you’re a picker, that means you have a shallower attack angle. The sole width shouldn’t really have anything to do with it. It does mean you might can get away with a narrower sole angle than might be ideal for most turf conditions, but other than that, it really shouldn’t matter. Except … how it effects you between the ears. If you think a certain sole width might cause you to “drop kick” or hit un-characteristic shots, you shouldn’t play it. I can say this because I have had irons that I have not been able to hit, for no other reason than I felt a feature, like sole width or radius, caused me to hit shots fat, for instance. It can happen. The mind can be a powerful thing in these situations.
I will try to get than sole width number, but I think you can’t go wrong with either the TS3 or TS1-IM. The positive feedback we have received from these irons has been off the charts.
