Hello, the STW2 driver with the MPF Pro series DR shaft was, by far, the best feeling, longest, straightest driver I’ve ever hit. Problem was, after a couple rounds, the crown buckled right along the alignment dot and the same happened with the replacement after one round. Is there any plan to release an updated STW2 model with more crown stability? I found the KE4 didn’t have the same feel or results. I’m a 6 handicap with approx 100mph swing speed. (The STW2 fairways and hybrid are solid and pure!).

First, apologies for the issue you had. We have not seen a problem with the STw2. Of course, with all models and brands on the market, there can be some failures. I have seen them all. We have contacted the factory and reviewed all the procedures and do not find any structural flaws. I would not hesitate to use the STw2 with your 100 mph club head speed. I assume you returned the defective ones, so I will see if we still have them to inspect. In our testing, all of our models are put through testing at swing speeds way above 100 mph and in the testing of STw2, we did not see anything like what you have experienced. Totally understand your loss of confidence since you have had 2 failures. No plans to update for 2022.

My returns will have come from the Canadian location, if there is to be any inspection, and were returned last summer/fall. Golfworks was excellent about replacement and reimbursement and I certainly have not lost confidence in Maltby gear at all, lol. In fact, Maltby is my go to brand, and not just because of price, but also for the high quality. In fact, besides Driver… for now, my entire bag is Maltby gear with alternate clubs on standby for different clubset options, and this trend will continue. That’s why I was surprised by my experience with the STW2 Driver. I’m tempted to give it another try assuming it could have been a weird anomaly, but understandably, a bit hesitant.
