I currently play Cobra Fly Z XL irons with stock regular steel shafts, but have gotten the chance to hit some stiff shaft player’s distance irons recently and love the feedback I get from those. I have improved a lot since I bought the Cobras 10 years ago and am curious about the fit of the TS4, TS3, or TS1 IM for my game.

I have a steep and aggressive swing. My swing speed with a 7 iron generally sits around 90-93 MPH based on recent simulator data. I like the feel of a lighter shaft than I sometimes have gotten fit for—something like the NS Pro 950 GH, for example—and have been fit for mid-spin shafts in the past. I also live on the Northwest side of Columbus so I am open to coming out for a fitting, but wondered if you had any initial thoughts for me. I am not all that picky about shafts and it seems like the stock TT Score shafts you guys offer on Club Paks would suit me just fine.

My initial thoughts would be based on what you’re currently playing. If you need that much forgiveness, I’d look at the KE4 max.

if you are striking the center of the face and don’t need as much forgiveness, I’d look at the TS3 or TS1IM. The sole of the TS3 could be very beneficial for your steeper swings.

you being that close to Newark it’s a no brainer for you to go there for a fitting. You could even set the build up right there and have them drop ship to your house. Budget wise go into the fitting with an open mind and have those club pak options in mind. You’re at the high end of stiff when it comes to the score steel shaft (shaft in the standard club pak).

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I should also consider the KE4 Max, especially if the feedback is better than my old Fly Zs. I do like how easy it can be to still hit a 4 and 5 iron in game improvement irons and prefer the more consistent dispersion I’ll see with long irons over hybrids, though I do carry a 3 hybrid.

Like I said above, was reminded this weekend of how important shaft differences can be in results so am definitely thinking I will find a time to make the trek out to Newark.
