was wondering if you folks could give me some advice about the finish of a club. I have an older Vokey oil can wedge that I really like but I am tired of getting the rust off with steel wool. My question is does anyone know if anything like blueing or something else that could be done to the wedge to stop it from rusting? thank you all in advance
We can do a process that is similar to gun blueing to raw finished heads. I believe the Vokey oil can is a raw carbon steel finish with the oil applied for temporary oxidation resistance. The gun blueing can help prevent the rust for a while, but will eventually wear off. It should give a little more protection than the oil can finish. Our DBM is a process done at our factory and is not available for refinishing. The DBM process is explained on the link below:

Its called Black Oxide Treatment (or finish), myunderstanding is that this makes the metal a bit harder. an old mate of mine said he would do it to his tools. It can be done it home if you have the necessary handy man skills, however there are definitely a lot of commercial services that offer it, and any good boilermaker/steel worker would know how to do it.
AFAIK if you do this to golf clubs it will eventualy wear off, and may well be what some OEMs have used to make black heads and failed at it. The cool thing is, if you can do it at home, you can do it again !
and whilst we are on this topic, Black oxide is definitely not the DBM finish the Golfworks is using. I have a theory what that process that is, and if i am right, its a major industrial process, and out of reach of the humble citizen.
