Just had an iron shaft fitting, we decided on ust recoil 460 esx a-flex. I see that mpf is 2d3m. UST dhi is also 2d3m in a-flex, but slightly heaver. Is mpf a good comparison to shaft performance?

I think both shafts are comparable. I’ve played them both. ESX is prettier, DHi is less expensive. I felt both played the same. Frequency wise the ESX shafts were more consistent between one another.

The MPF for shafts is a tool that can narrow down your choices for sure. It can point you to shafts with similar playability, but allows you to look at variables such as weight and price and narrow the choices even more. Agree with Rlafoone that the shafts should play similar, but the Recoil will probably have slightly tighter tolerances. I consider the DHi a great option at a value price.
