We have done carbon fiber and ti heads before, magnesium and ti heads, and many other combinations. The whole reason to do it is to save a few extra grams of weight to move to some other area. I believe the new trend to go back to using composite (it has been done many times before) is driven by the complex adjustable design features that are being designed into many of today’s heads. Those “slots” and “channels” have to be substantial in their wall thicknesses and structure, which means there is less weight available for the remainder of the head. Carbon and composite materials, having a great strength to weight ratio and being a little lighter than titanium, allow for the extra design features to be done and still maintain generally traditional head weights.
We currently do not have any carbon / ti head designs in the works. There are only a few quality manufacturers in the world that can do the carbon fiber / titanium or stainless heads to a high level, and we have used them in the past and use them now for other projects. We could design a composite / metal head in the future if it makes sense for what we want to do, but again, we do not have anything in the works for the near future.
