I was confused about grip size. I’ve always been told a correct fit is when the tips of your left hand barely touch your palm upon gripping. i was reading the golf pride measurement tool and it said,”measure wrist break to longest finger. I’ve always worn jumbo but by their chart I should be midsize. I measure 8.0 and this falls into their 7.6-9.0. What is your opinion?
In short, we never go by hand sizing charts, etc. The best and only way, in our opinion, is to use the fingertip to palm method. Charts like this might give you a very general idea, but the only way to properly fit the grip size is by gripping the club in the playing position and checking the fingertip to palm position. Also important to understand that even when using the fingertip to palm method, the customers preference on feel takes the priority. If they like a bigger feel and the fingertip doesn’t quite touch, that’s fine. If they like a smaller grip and the fingertip and palm overlap some, that’s fine as well. Ultimately it is the comfort of the player that should drive the decision.
