I have a set of Modus 105 shafts with no heads. I’m considering some used Mizuno heads 5-PW but was told they’re BU heads so lighter weight and 2 degrees upright. I can get the heads bent back to standard but not sure what to do about the lighter heads. I heard it’s about 7 grams lighter than standard. Any best practices? Lead tape looks ugly so I’m considering shaft weights.
Lead tape can be perceived as quite ugly by some, including myself, but it is certainly the easiest to get right in terms of swing weight. Tip weights would be the next choice. Third choice would be putting weight down the shaft after you glut it. You need a long ram rod for that.
Shat tip weights are fine and Rlafoone is correct in saying you don’t want them above the top of the hosel. Usually do not like putting more than 8 grams in the hosel. Lead tape is the easiest and best way to add because it puts the weight in a better place than in the hosel. Still, 8 grams is not going to move the cg enough to matter.
