Thank you very much for all of your quick answers, you have been so helpful in my return to the game. I actually have two more questions if you don’t mind.

I recently found a preowned set of Tommy Armour TA1 irons and hybrids at golf galaxy for only $150 so I bought them and gave to my neighbor, who has been wanting to start golf. After reading some good reviews, I am thinking maybe I should have tried them first and kept them for myself. How would they compare to my KE4 from 2007? Which would be more playable? Would one have distance advantage? I am hoping to achieve a little more distance, but it’s certainly not the only factor to consider. I also want playability etc. I wasn’t sure if there was more recent tech in the Tommy Armour, and I see that GolfWorks was selling them too before they were discontinued.
A few months ago, I purchased the M890 irons. I really like them, but have been more using the KE4 from 2007 because I like them even more. I am 5’9″ male. I ordered standard length. My wife needs a set of irons, and I think the M890 would be perfect for her. She is 5’5″ though. Would I need to get them resized for her, or would that still work, I wasn’t sure where the height differential made a big difference. And how would I even do that?

The Tommy Armour TA 1 irons are ok and fall into the our Super Game Improvement category of the Maltby Playability Factor, but the KE4’s have a higher rating and fall into the Ultra Game Improvement category We did sell the TA irons for a while (we are owned by Dick’s Sporting Goods and they own Tommy Armour) and did the custom assembly for them for that brand. In my biased opinion, I would go with the KE4’s. I have always felt they were the ultimate Ultra Game Improvement iron. Appeals to a broad range of players and and has unmatched stability and feel compared to other models in the “Game Improvement” categories. The TA irons do have slightly stronger lofts. so you might hit them a few yards longer, but I believe you will find the overall playability preferable with the KE4’s.

M890’s would e perfect for your wife, but would need to be fit to her for length, lie, flex and grip size. It is our best selling line to seniors and women.

I feel the KE4 is far more playable. This is a Maltby all time best seller. Tough to go wrong with this head if your hitting them well.
regarding the M890 for a gal whose 5’5” the club would have to be fitted. I suspect the clubs can be shortened a little for lie. Grab some impact labels and test her with the standard length and lies. Test on a grass driving range. If the clubs have to be shortened it’s very easy to do. 1/2 inch I’d say and replace the grips. I’m 5’7” and take 1/2 short with a 2 degree flat lie. The lie can be adjusted at Golf Galaxy or where you purchased the clubs. Hope that gives you a start.
