I have an old (1920’s?) hickory shafted putter. I’d like to install a leather wrap grip from Golfworks. The shaft is about 3/4″. Will the underlisting fit? I also see the the end caps are no longer available. Any suggestions how to secure the bottom and top of the leather wrap on the shaft?

The leather wraps are approx. 34 inches in length. Underlisting will not fit. Wrapping them around a 3/4″ diameter hickory shaft should get you approximately 10″ of grip length, but that is only a semi-educated guess. Depends on if there is any taper in the hickory, how much taper for how long, etc. You can use a small tac nail at the butt end to secure, then at the end you could whip it (old school) or use electrical tape. You can also use the electrical tape at the top over the tacked end if you wanted. We don’t have any of the rubber caps.

Hi, I have some whipping and the tool from days gone by, so I’ll give that a go. The putter has about 10* of loft, so might be the perfect club for run up shots across the pond.
