Having an issue with removal of Taylormade adapters. Originally I thought it might be the club shield I was using to try to save the ferrule but the outcome is the same whether I use club shield or not. The adapter comes out with a speckled appearance as the paint seems to come off, I am using a heat gun and all the proper equipment, hoping this is a common problem and not something I’m doing wrong.

That’s correct. I had the same problem in the past. To much heat or to long. I use a butane torch these days, 15 seconds max, and let it sit for 15 or 20 seconds (important).
Heat gun will work fine also.

I had problems removing adapters because I had too much heat and destroyed the ferrule, I learnt to put the ferrule under hot running water for 10ish seconds then push ferrule down the shaft then use my adapter removal tool. Works well and easy peasy, I made it outa a brake pads pusher. Don’t need a vice for mine…
